What is OpenXTalk?
OpenXTalk is an open-source continuation of the Livecode integrated development environment. It allows you to code in a human-like easy to read language, and develop for multiple operating systems and platforms at the same time. It also allows you to see real-time results as you develop your program.
Download
OpenXTalk is free to download and use. Currently, support for the following systems are available:
OpenXTalk-Linuxv1.963.1 RC4 Portable binary for 64bit debian Linux.
OpenXTalk-Windowsv1.963.1 RC4 7zip archive, all in one folder.
OpenXTalk-Macv1.963.1 RC4 DMG image for MacOS.
(Now works in MacOS 14 Sonoma).
Notes regarding this version:
OpenXTalk is based on the Livecode 9.6.x community version, and all future versions of OpenXTalk will continue development down different paths. Any legacy leftover references to "Livecode" will be trimmed out.
How to install
For most systems, simply uncompress the archive in a folder of your choice and double click to run.
On Linux you might have to right-click and choose 'allow to run as a program'.
Other versions
There is a fork of OpenXTalk, called OpenXTalk Lite. You can read more about that
here.

Previous versions
OpenXTalk takes over where the LiveCode Community project ends, with the goal of keeping a FREE OPEN SOURCE xTalk language publicly available. The idea is that everything you had in Livecode 9.6.3 will be available, but also with added bug fixes and interface improvements.
Unfortunately, Livecode have removed access to their previously stored community versions. As such, you can find the legacy Livecode Community versions on the Archive.org site
here.
