Wineskin Engine Builder

Wineskin Engine Builder makes Wineskin Engines. Ok, so you might not be any the wiser. Read on for a longer explanation.

About - Longer version

Have you heard of Wine? No, not the kind you drink. The kind that stands for 'Wine Is Not an Emulator'. Well, It's basically a fake C Drive on a PC, placed inside a Mac Application. It allows you to install various Windows Programs, without needing Windows, with varying levels of success.

Clear as mud? Perhaps it'll only make sense when you try it out.

Assuming you get the gist of Wine, WineSkin is a 'container' to keep wine in. Self-enclosed so that it doesn't stain the rest of your pristine mac . To run WineSkin you'll also need a WineSkin Engine (the thing that powers WineSkin - logical really). You can download WineSkin from here (mirrors: winehq-stable 3.0.2, wineskin 1.7, and a prebuilt wrapper for OSX 10.8). Once downloaded, wineskinenginebuilder makes Engines which power WineSkin. When your engine is created, open WineSkin from your applications folder and you can create your first WineSkin App. The joy of running Microsoft Powerpoint on your mac will be realised.

Don't let that put you off, it's actually a very impressive feat of coding by the WineHQ team and the WineSkin developers. Wine is also available for Linux, however Wineskin is only available for the Mac.
