text The handbrake cable was completely rusted and seized. Top left, you can see the old assembly with the handbrake cable running through.

As I am using a more recent heavy duty back axle, there is a different fixing method used. As you can see, top right, the old plate was cut back to make room for the new cable. It is easier to tell at a glance how much more hard-wearing and robust the new cable is.

A carrier plate for the handbrake adjuster was required. This was welded on in the correct location to allow the adjuster to function properly so it does not snag on anything.

Bottom right you can see the new cable assembled and fitted.
